In addition to housing costs, the automobile is another huge factor in the increased costs of living in South Florida that must be addressed. There is no way of provide a truly affordable lifestyle without freedom from the automobile. Car ownership costs are the second largest household expense in the US after housing, at almost eighteen percent of household income.
